Soccer, Flag Football and other Fun Stuff

This blog is for the week of  the 13th to the 20th.  I'm so glad that I've been journaling each week and even if I get behind, I will catch up.  This picture is a card I made for a friend from church whose mother passed away.  She is also my visiting teaching companion and a very loving person. I like to make these kinds of cards because their unique, personal, it allows me to describe the characteristics that I admire and see in them, and it is something they can hang and look at to know that someone thinks they are wonderful. AJ and Audrey are always wrestling around... well AJ is always chasing and grabbing Audrey to wrestle. Audrey usually laughs and has a great time before she eventually gets hurt.  I love this picture of them just laughing together on the floor after AJ chased after Audrey. Our first Spring picnic!!  We had a day off of school for teacher work day and invited AJ's friend Taegan Anderson to spend...

Indoors or Outdoors We are Always Having Fun!

Image
AJ and Audrey are always playing chase in the house. Last week the they used the toy walker to chase each other with.  In this picture, Audrey stopped chasing AJ and started walking backwards. It was so random and funny and she was so proud of herself.  She did it several times. It reminded me of when she wants me to read her a book, she hands it to me (usually right in my face) and then starts anywhere from a foot out to walk backwards landing her bum in my lap as I'm sitting on the floor.  I smile everytime because it is just so cute. Audrey and I eat oatmeal almost every morning for breakfast.  Our favorites are when we add frozen strawberries and blueberries. It also helps to cool it down quickly since Audrey has no patience when it comes to breakfast.  I usually put some Cheerios on her table to distract her, but as soon as she sees me coming with the bowl, a huge smile crosses her face and she pants with her mouth open. She also does this when she want...

Drawings and Journaling

Aaron loves to draw.  This picture is of the big storm that came upon the apostles when Jesus was sleeping.  Here the apostles are trying to get the sails down, and a huge wave is about to hit the ship. This is a project AJ did at school.  He has done a few, but I wanted to post one here to remember.  The clues to the puzzle are on the outside and the answer is on the inside.  The first clue - is red, second- it is not  a apple, third- you can buy it at the store, forth- it has tiny seeds.  He came up with the clues and wrote them by himself. When you open the clues a picture of  a strawberry is on the inside. He was very excited to show me what he accomplished. This week was exciting  in one way and not fun in another. The great part was Aaron getting his "big" bonus from work. Aaron has worked extremely hard and all of our family has made lots of sacrifices.  But to be able to pa...

Learning New Things...

I asked AJ to give Audrey a few books while I finished something in the kitchen.  Here is his idea of how to keep her busy for a looong time. Of course with this many books, she just pushed them off her little table and wanted to do it all over again. We went out for a hamburger and AJ would usually get nuggets. He has been willing to try "meat" lately so this is AJ at "6" years old having his first hamburger!!  He has also tried bacon (not a favorite), chicken (depends on how it is prepared), taco meat (will eat it with only cheese on top) and steak (he loves it and proves himself a real Roome). AJ drew this picture for Aaron to welcome him home from a business trip to San Fransisco and visiting grammy and papa in LA. AJ said it was the best dinosaur he had ever drawn and was very excited to give it to his daddy. I love that he enjoys making "notes" and giving them to others. I usually give Audrey Cheerios to eat while I'm fixing her meal.  S...

2 More Teeth Coming on Top and Some Every Day Events

Image
Audrey is finally getting some more teeth.  She got her first bottom 2 teeth around 7 months and now at 13 months shes getting 2 more. Once they come in she really won't look like my baby any more.  She is definately a toddler, but I pretend she's still my baby. I can't believe how well she's walking now.  Such a cute little waddler. I don't know how her little bum isn't brused all the time.  When she falls its always on her bum.   Audrey and AJ were playing in Audrey's little duck tub the other day.  He pulled her around for a little bit, then decided he wanted me to pull him around.  He bathed in a duck tub just like this one when he was a baby. It really is so cute how they play together.  Half of the time she is laughing and the other half she's screaming.  They chase each other around the coffee table and she gets going really fast.  When she falls he pulls her on him and sings a song to her.  Its called "...

Valentine pancakes

Image
AJ loves pancakes so we made some heart shaped pancakes on Valentine's Day morning. AJ even shared some of his pancakes with Audrey. He definately loves his sister! We also made valentines for each other and AJ made a very sweet one for me that I posted.  He made 5 hearts for his daddy and we taped them in his car before he went to work.  Of course Aaron loved his "heart attacked" car, especially the heart that said, "You love ferarees".  AJ's spelling of course, but he definately knows his daddy! He also wrote, "Best daddy in the world" on one and spelled everything correctly. He really is a sweet thoughtful boy.    Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen sent AJ a lion and Audrey some pajamas.  AJ loves animals and gets very attached to his stuffed animals. He got a lion from his grandma last year, but it got covered in green slime and I ended up throwing in away after AJ tried giving it a bath and still couldn't get him clean.  He has crie...

Always something in hand...

Image
Audrey is always walking around with something in her hand.  She carries around books, any lotion tube, water bottle, sippy cup, or toy she can put in her mouth.  She also loves to throw all these things, including balls, over the gate she can't pass and make a nice mess for me to pick up.  I've been trying to teach Audrey to hug or "squeeze" as we usually say.  She is not a snuggly baby, but she is learning. She finally will give a hug/squeeze to her baby, Aaron and I.  She would rather play and sing then hug.
