A Few of 1300 pics of Aaron and Amee in Rome ~ August 11th- 21st
Here is a peek of the 10 day vacation Aaron and I took to Rome for our 10th wedding anniversary. I'm making a separate blog/document including the 1300 pictures we took. I wanted to share the pictures of us together on this family blog and a few others. Above is us taking a private tour of Vatican City! It was amazing! The Sistine Chapel lived up to all our expectations. St. Peter's Basilica just incredible as well as St. Peter's Square. Seeing where Peter was buried was actually a moving experience. We learned a ton and took pics of what we could. This gelato below came from the Cafe Vaticano that we enjoyed while trying to cool down and wait for our tour guide.
Ahhh Venice! So beautiful and unique and just wonderful. Loved all the bridges and buildings and of course had a gondola ride. The ride took us through various passageways and under several bridges, particularly the Rialto bridge, where I got some gorgeous glass jewelry, along the Canal Grande. We visited the Galleria dell'Accademia, Doge's Palace, Frari Church, Dorsoduro neighborhood, and had a picnic on the canal with our feet hanging over the side getting wet. We ate Proscuitto, Asiago cheese with crackers and blood orange Powerade right from the butcher! Yummy!
We are at The Leather School of Florence. We each got a leather bag made by the head teacher who was 80 years old and retiring in a month. It was neat to watch them make some of the leather goods. We loved the our hotel and its terrace overlooked the Duomo. We climbed 463 steps to get to the top and it was exhausting and awesome. We saw the Uffizi Gallery, Accademia with the amazing David, walked the Ponte Veccio, a famous bridge full of modern gold shops. We also had some delicious local food recommended by the fabulous hotel managers, who also served breakfast of croissants and fruit each morning on the terrace.
We loved Rome and all it had to offer. The Colosseo and Forum were amazing. Unbelievable how the Romans built such magnificent structures. We loved the Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain (a favorite), the Pantheon an architectural wonder, Villa Borghese, Piazza del Popolo and many beautiful churches.
