Martial Arts, Discovery Place, Dyan, Spring ~ March 2014

Our first graduation! Everyone starts with a white belt.  After 2 months of training on a weapon and certain kicking, punching, board breaking skills, and a set routine with many skills put together we have earned our belt.  This will happen about every 2 months as we work towards our black belts.  I'm very proud of the kids and myself actually.  We really love it!

Daddy and Aaron went to a special exhibit at The Discovery Place.  It was the 100 interventions that changed the world, or something like that.  Of course Aaron was all over that begging us to take him. He still plans on being a wealthy inventor...

We don't usually eat there but today with it being Daddy's first visit, we had some special treats at the cafeteria. Below Daddy was brave and laid on a bed of nails.

Below Daddy is trying to match the "smell bottles" with the right picture.

Any time there is a hint of wind AJ asks to fly kites.  We went to the YMCA fields to have plenty of room and was fairly successful although the winds were only flowing in short spurts.

We love to get packages from the grandparents, even when it was sent to our old address and we got our Valentines package a month late! Audrey is also drawing more and more and I love her happy people.

Learning to do front rolls and cart wheels in the Hyper martial arts class. Our first weapon is the sword.

Aaron is finally getting his throw-ins figured out.  He has a great coach who is really helping AJ to learn the basics and is patient with him as he learns to be a team player.

My spring wreath! I love spring in Charlotte!

The kids got their gear for martial arts so they wanted to try everything on.  They are ready to spar!

Dyan, Todd and Kelsey came to town on their way to visit an art school in Winston Salem that Kelsey is considering attending.  So happy to spend some time with them and have family in my home.

This picture makes me laugh.  It didn't happen on purpose but we end up at Taco Bell every Saturday. Here the kids are trying the taco sauce by its self and Aaron is being pretty dramatic here. Although you'd think he was savoring every bit of the sauce and that it was a piece of heaven, he doesn't add it to his quesadilla. The picture below is of him trying the Hot taco sauce and he didn't like that one.

A sweet older lady from church had a birthday and her daughter asked me to make some cupcakes to celebrate it and bring them to our institute class. Since many hurry out of class I made these cupcakes to go.

For cub scouts AJ was asked to make a dessert and bring it to the camp fire activity.  Of course he made his favorite dessert, cupcakes! Yellow cake mix and blue frosting in honor of the cub scout colors.

I love the picture below of Aaron and AJ watching football while eating in the kitchen.

Spring in Charlotte makes me happy. The trees in front of our house have white, green and light pink blossoms.
