Catalina Island with Grammy and Papa ~ April 2nd 2013

We took Grammy, Papa and the kids to Catalina Island for the day. We rode on the Catalina Express and besides being a little chilly and windy from the fast boat, everyone had a great time. We left from the San Pedro Port and saw the USS Iowa and all the cranes unloading containers from the huge barges then put on big rigs. We saw dolphins in the distance jumping out of the water and other boats as well.

Once on the island we just enjoyed walking around and taking in all the beautiful sites. It was relaxing with nothing planned and no where we had to be. We slowly made our way towards the historic casino, the big grand building in the background of most of the pictures.

After walking around the Casino we decided we were ready for some lunch. Nothing like homemade root beer, pizza, and peanut to eat where we throw the shells on the floor.  That was especially fun for the kids. Afterwards we let the kids play in the sand and Papa and Aaron actually got in a little nap while sitting on the bench watching the kids.

After a wonderful day it was time to head back on the Catalina Express.  The kids were excited to be back on the boat. The ride back was not as cold and seemed to go a little faster.  It still took one hour but we were happy to have had such a fabulous day with Grammy and Papa.
