Good Bye Punta Cana, Hello Charlotte ~ December 26th - 31st 2001
I forgot to post these pics we took on Christmas night, but I didn't want to forget them. There were a few of these beautiful trees in the lobby. We took a walk to see them and the night lights after our dinner. We didn't wander around too long because we requested a special jacuzzi bath that they offer. It was pretty amazing and had a coconut bubble scent with beautiful flowers. It was sooo nice. I let AJ enjoy it after I was sufficiently relaxed.
Luckily on our last day our plane didn't leave until late in the afternoon. We spent the morning at the beach and walking around the resort to see everything one last time.
In the picture below Audrey has a hand in her front pocket and one in her back pocket. It was so cute to watch her waddle/walk like that down the street.
There were so many fun places to sit and relax. We especially loved the swings. The flamingo and duck pond were always a hit with the kids. But Audrey's favorite was the turtle pond.
This is the only picture I took at the beach today. It was actually breezy with light rain and chilly, hence the towel Aaron is covering himself with. We still had a great time with the beautiful views all around us. AJ and Audrey enjoyed their last day at Club Flintstone during half of the morning. Then we rode the "train" around a few more times until AJ and Audrey had their fill. We made sure to get a picture of AJ with all the coconuts he'd collected during our stay. Finding/collecting them was one of his favorite parts of the whole vacation. He collects lots of things: rocks, cars, coins, and more. After leaving our room, one of the carts that drives around the resort giving people rides to various destinations came and loaded us up. Audrey loved riding in the carts while we were there and would always say, "hola" to our various drivers and smile during the whole ride.
This is the open air airport in Punta Cana. The roof is made of "cana" palm frawns. It was cool standing at our terminal and look right out at our plane. I chased Audrey around the airport until we took off and luckily-miraculously she fell asleep after take off.
After we got home the kids were really excited to open the presents we weren't able to take with us to Punta Cana. We were really spoiled by our family members and will have many fun days ahead playing with the toys.
