Christmas in Punta Cana ~ December 25th 2011

Merry Christmas!! Santa did find us in Punta Cana! AJ woke up very excited to see presents and stockings waiting for us to enjoy! Santa had even decorated our lamp with Christmas lights since we didn't have a Christmas tree. Audrey didn't quite know what was going on, but she caught on as soon as she had her stocking in her hands. While  AJ smiled and got more and more excited with each gift, Audrey was very focused and intent on opening each present.  As soon as she had one opened, she grabbed another without showing much emotion.  It was kinda funny actually.

I love these two pictures of Audrey on her computer.  She loves touching the lap tops at home even though they are off limits. Now she has her own.  She looks like she totally knows what she is doing and has been doing it for years.  Such a funny expression in the picture below.

After presents we went to breakfast at the Gabi restraunt. It was the closest one to our room so we went there most of the time.  We loved the stars behind Audrey and candles in the background surround the whole interior circular wall of the restraunt. It was especially beautiful at night. Right after breakfast we headed for the beach.  The sand and water were just so beautiful.  After playing in the waves for awhile, AJ decided he wanted us to bury him in the sand.  Aaron and Audrey really enjoyed this activity.  Next AJ wanted a fortress built around his head and with a river connecting the fortress to the ocean. The scenery all around us was so amazing I took lots of pictures from every different angle.

Aaron made sure to make some "castles" for Audrey to destroy so that she would leave AJ's alone.  This was not an easy task. AJ did manage to stay in the ground for about 45 minutes, which I didn't think was possible...

Aaron said something like "There is nothing like laying under the sun in paradise while your kids play together." It was definately an amazing hour when we were able to just put up our feet, relax and watch the kids play.  That is what vacation is all about.

What is that in the sky? Is it a bird, a plane, no it is Santa Clause para-sailing to our beach!!! He landed in his boat and cruised to shore. He walked up escorted by staff and sat under a beautiful green hut.  All the kids on the beach lined up and sat on Santa's lap while he gave them some very nice presents.  Audrey got playdoe with toys and AJ got a Cars container truck.  Pretty neat Christmas morning for the Roomes.

After lunch we decided to go swimming and lay out by the pool.  The water was much cooler than we liked, but it sure was beautiful. Aaron braved the water a few days earlier, so it was my turn. We loved going to the snack shack by the pool and getting fresh nachos made from corn tortillas cut and fried by hand, soft serve ice cream, popcorn and pina coladas.  There were also a lot of peacocks wandering around that fascinated AJ.

For Christmas dinner we got a little dressed up and took some family pictures.  We enjoyed a nice meal at Aqua, a restraunt that my mom would love since everything in it was aqua. It was a very classy place and the decorations were amazing. A fun dinner until Audrey decided she was done for the day and we left before being totally embarassed. Such a fun Christmas day!
