Learning New Things...

Image
I asked AJ to give Audrey a few books while I finished something in the kitchen.  Here is his idea of how to keep her busy for a looong time. Of course with this many books, she just pushed them off her little table and wanted to do it all over again. We went out for a hamburger and AJ would usually get nuggets. He has been willing to try "meat" lately so this is AJ at "6" years old having his first hamburger!!  He has also tried bacon (not a favorite), chicken (depends on how it is prepared), taco meat (will eat it with only cheese on top) and steak (he loves it and proves himself a real Roome). AJ drew this picture for Aaron to welcome him home from a business trip to San Fransisco and visiting grammy and papa in LA. AJ said it was the best dinosaur he had ever drawn and was very excited to give it to his daddy. I love that he enjoys making "notes" and giving them to others. I usually give Audrey Cheerios to eat while I'm fixing her meal.  S

2 More Teeth Coming on Top and Some Every Day Events

Image
Audrey is finally getting some more teeth.  She got her first bottom 2 teeth around 7 months and now at 13 months shes getting 2 more. Once they come in she really won't look like my baby any more.  She is definately a toddler, but I pretend she's still my baby. I can't believe how well she's walking now.  Such a cute little waddler. I don't know how her little bum isn't brused all the time.  When she falls its always on her bum.   Audrey and AJ were playing in Audrey's little duck tub the other day.  He pulled her around for a little bit, then decided he wanted me to pull him around.  He bathed in a duck tub just like this one when he was a baby. It really is so cute how they play together.  Half of the time she is laughing and the other half she's screaming.  They chase each other around the coffee table and she gets going really fast.  When she falls he pulls her on him and sings a song to her.  Its called "The Noble Duke of York". Valentine pancakes

Image
AJ loves pancakes so we made some heart shaped pancakes on Valentine's Day morning. AJ even shared some of his pancakes with Audrey. He definately loves his sister! We also made valentines for each other and AJ made a very sweet one for me that I posted.  He made 5 hearts for his daddy and we taped them in his car before he went to work.  Of course Aaron loved his "heart attacked" car, especially the heart that said, "You love ferarees".  AJ's spelling of course, but he definately knows his daddy! He also wrote, "Best daddy in the world" on one and spelled everything correctly. He really is a sweet thoughtful boy.    Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen sent AJ a lion and Audrey some pajamas.  AJ loves animals and gets very attached to his stuffed animals. He got a lion from his grandma last year, but it got covered in green slime and I ended up throwing in away after AJ tried giving it a bath and still couldn't get him clean.  He has cried sever

Always something in hand...

Image
Audrey is always walking around with something in her hand.  She carries around books, any lotion tube, water bottle, sippy cup, or toy she can put in her mouth.  She also loves to throw all these things, including balls, over the gate she can't pass and make a nice mess for me to pick up.  I've been trying to teach Audrey to hug or "squeeze" as we usually say.  She is not a snuggly baby, but she is learning. She finally will give a hug/squeeze to her baby, Aaron and I.  She would rather play and sing then hug.

I've been "crafty" and love it!

My friend Karen and I made these felt hearts.  We got the idea from our friend Tammy. We were so excited to make them.   We cut out hundreds of circles, folded them twice, then used a straight pin to secure them into a foam heart.  They turned out beautiful. We made them while her older kids were at school and her youngest and Audrey took a nap.  We also put in the newer version of Pride and Prejudice while we crafted.  What a fun day!!

Audrey and her 1st favorite books...

Image
Audrey loves Go Dog Go and The Foot Book by Dr Suess. She brings them to me to read multiple times a day.  She always smiles while I'm reading and often carries them around the house.  She still enjoys sitting by her box of books and flips through them. Sooooo cute!! AJ also loves reading.  We go to the library once a week.  When we get home he will go through almost every book and look at the pictures before he wantes me to read them. She also has started giving hugs.  She'll extend her arms and them pat you on the back a few times.  She did it 3 times in a row after feeding her and it was the sweetest thing ever! She has also been giving out more kisses.  Sweet, open mouth, usually slobbery kisses!

AJ teaches Audrey how to sword fight...

Audrey really has fun sword fighting with AJ.  She laughs and giggles the whole time.

Finally drinking from a sippy cup...

Image
Audrey is finally drinking out of a sippy cup.  She only drinks water and milk for now. She loves to drink straight out of a cup, or from a straw. She also loves my water bottles and carries them around the house.

AJ loved his first basketball season with the YMCA

Image
AJ really liked basketball.  He improved alot between his first practice ever and the last game.  He tried to do his best every game.  He was always one of the first players down the court ready to play defence.  Towards the end of the season he would have his hands up in the air when on defence and was always ready to get the ball on offense.  He often got so excited to shoot the ball when it was actually passed to him, that he'd forget to dribble.  He did rebound a few times. He had lots of fun and it was a great first basketball experience.

Some sweet things...

I went to tutor at AJ's school.  I work with one 4th grader, and two girls in AJ's class.  After turoring, I stayed and played with him and his frineds at recess.  He was the line leader and he was so proud to have his mom with him holding his hand.  All his friends wanted to play with us on the playground.  At lunch, everyone asked to sit by me.  AJ was happy to have me there and to spend time with just him.  When I go there for lunch, I let him buy a sherbert push-up and that makes it extra special. On his behavior chart at school he has been earning greens (everyone starts at green) and purples (extra good). He earns special treats at home whenever he gets a purple.  At the end of the week if he has all green and purples, he gets an egg nog shake.  We have bought as many half gallons of egg nog ice cream as we can fit in our freezer. Its a family favorite that comes once a year and we try to make it last as long as we can. AJ continues to improve his reading and it is so fun

A very nice day to play...

Image
The weather has been in the 30's and 40's but jumped into the 60's so we enjoyed playing outside.  We threw around the football, frisbee and pitched for AJ.  I love throwing the ball or frisbee around with Aaron.  Soon AJ will be able to throw and catch as good as us... I hope!

AJ goes roller skating!

Image
AJ was invited to a birthday party for his friend Taegen, a girl from church. Aaron and I did not want to miss his first time roller skating so we tagged along for the first part. AJ was very excited and had absolutely no idea what he was in for...  Aaron and I took turns getting pulled, pushed, dragged, toes run over, shins kicked, and hands squeezed by AJ as he "tried/learned" to skate. He was pretty frustrated because it was hard, but he stuck with it and did it by himself in the end.  He inched along and fell alot but Aaron walked along with him around the rink for support.  AJ always wants to do things by himself and won't ask for help until he is totally frustrated.  That is hard for Aaron and I to watch, but that is just how it is.  AJ was cute skating beside Taegan at the end. When we finished skating, Aaron took us to Krispy Kreme donuts to celebrate AJ's first skating experience.
