Chimney Rock, Aw Shucks ~ November 1st - 4th 2013
AJ loves to make signs for our visitors. I forgot to post the sign on the last blog so here it is. We were so excited to have Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen come to visit us in the fall instead of the summer. We love fall in Charlotte and couldn't wait to share it with them. We took a day trip and went to Chimney Rock a few hours from Charlotte in the mountains. It is one of our favorite places to visit. We rode an elevator to the top instead of climbing the 500 steps to the top. The view was amazing!! Everyone had a great time.
Below is the tunnel leading to and from the elevator. On the sides of the walls is written the history of how they dug the tunnel and elevator shaft up to the top of Chimney Rock.
We had a yummy lunch in the town of Chimney Rock right next to a beautiful creek. Only a few bees bothered us a little. It was a lovely day with my mom and dad!
Another day we went to a place called Aw Shucks to enjoy a corn maze, hay ride, games and all sorts of fall fun.
Audrey and Grandma are making some play doh creations.
Growing up we always got some pomegranates to peel and eat in the fall. We always made a huge mess and had so much fun eating them. So we got some to continue the tradition. They were a pain to peel and weren't very sweet but we ate them anyway. We had such a great visit with Grandma and Grandpa and can't wait to see them again when we visit Wyoming next summer!
