Mom and Dad Sorensen's 50th Anniversary Surprise Party ~ June 30th 2012
For several months my 8 siblings and I planned a surprise 50th anniversary party for our parents. We secretly gathered the night before for a rehearsal of the music program we all prepared for and made plans to decorate the following morning. We made center pieces for the tables, planned a nice dinner, had a music program that included solo, instrumental, and group numbers, printed programs to place on the tables, decorated the church in the same colors as their reception colors, decorated a cake that replicated the original, one brother was the MC and made up questions for the Newly Wed Game that we had our parents participate in, gave them a book with letters from each family member and close friends, and gave them a trip to Navoo to tour church history sites that they have never visited before. We took family pictures, sang, danced, ate and had a wonderful night never to be forgotten. They were so shocked and surprised. We all cried and laughed and appreciated the love our parents have always shown each other. I am sad to admit that my camera was non existent that night, but my sister-in-law Jessica took these wonderful pics you see below and kindly shared them with me. I don't have lots of pics of the many musical performances because people were recording them instead of taking pictures.
Silly boys!
I love this picture because it shows the funny relationship my husband has with my mom. They razz each other and bug each other and both love it.
