Gettysburg and DC, Daddy's Birthday, Lazy 5 Ranch ~ September 2015



Visiting fire station #4 with Aaron.



Karin and I visited this market to buy fresh peaches and get some delicious peach ice cream!


 Aaron is petting our neighbor Chrissy's dog and its a big deal!  He has always been afraid of dogs, but will occasionally pet a calm dog with its owner on its leash.

 

Daddy and Aaron headed to Gettysburg for Labor Day weekend. They stopped and took pictures all along the way and were able to spend quality time together.  Lots of memories were made on this trip.




The boys are in Virginia and stopping for some dinner.




 The boys started their day in the Gettysburg Museum. They saw lots pictures, films, statues, and  exhibits depicting the war and all the events that happened there.













The guys are on a driving tour throughout the battlefield.











The guys were able to see a reenactment of a group of soldiers shooting their guns.







They were able to walk around and see what the life of a soldier was like out on the field.

This is a train museum in Gettysburg. The boys walked around and saw lots of trains of every kind.














While the boys are up north, Audrey and I are spending time together in Charlotte.  We headed to the Matthews Alive.  We watched the parade and got some candy and small toys. Then we headed to their little carnival and rode some rides. Audrey especially loved getting her face painted.









We found a little petting zoo and loved the bunnies.





Audrey has lost her tooth!!


Today the boys are in Washington DC.  They visited all the memorials and many museums. 



This is the Jefferson Monument.

This is the Vietnam Memorial.



This area is a memorial of the Korean War.



This is the Lincoln Memorial.












This is the Smithsonian and the Archives of the US where the Declaration of Independence is kept.



The Air and Space museum was awesome!!






















Audrey knows Aaron loves airplanes so she drew him one.


Aaron and Audrey love getting mail from Grandma Sorensen!!







Audrey is practicing her gymnastics. Her splits are getting better and she is climbing higher on the rope.



We had a fun time at Carowinds with the Halloween decorations. 




My brother Lane Sorensen had some training meetings in Asheville and came for a visit!! It was short but sweet! We love it when family visits.




Aaron loves to draw football flags and even made a self portrait. 



I caught Audrey playing with a toy on the table.



Happy happy birthday Daddy!! We surprised him with a party.





I made my first fresh strawberry pie. I loved it!



Aaron is running around Boston on a work trip. He runs everywhere he travels or else he wouldn't be able to stay in shape.



This never happens....








Aaron had a play date with a friend from school, Josh.  Aaron especially likes him because he likes to play catch with the football. This park is one of our favorites.  It has a great playground and pond that we can ride our bikes around.





For daddy's birthday we took him to The Lazy 5 Ranch.  He loved feeding the animals as much as we did.  I think his favorite animal was the giraffe.







































The kids love it when we go to the Bass Pro Shop.

Destination Wedding in Saint Croix ~ December 6th - 9th 2012

Aaron's friend Chris from Wake Forest Business School invited us to his wedding on Saint Croix, one the U.S.Virgin Islands. When it finally came time to leave it seemed pretty unreal. Last December we were in Punta Cana loving the beach, now we were again able to be on a beach, only an American one, not in America. We flew to St. Thomas, then we squeezed into the plane in the pictures you see above and below.  It held 10 passengers including the pilot.  He turned around and gave us the basic instructions including the no-smoking bit, but if you really wanted to you just needed to step out the door, it was only 50 feet (or something like that). I was in the last row and my head was touching the ceiling. It was exciting and a little unnerving which just made the trip that much more adventurous. The view was breathtaking in many ways. Baseball, Soccer, Botanical Gardens~ May 18th - 24th

 Audrey loves the sand box.  She has no problem getting or being dirty.  The heat also does not deter her from playing in the sand.  I stand in the shade most of the time unless she wants me to build her castles that she can knock down or step on.  AJ's soccer season is over and he had a great time.  Above is a picture of the parents vs kids game we played at the soccer party.  Thankfully this year no parent or kid got hurt.  After the game we had a picnic and the players got their medals.  Audrey ran circles around the field and kicked loose soccer balls around. We had these 2 coaches for 2 seasons and they were awesome with the kids.  AJ definitely improved because of their abilities.  We will miss them as they move on to college in the fall. AJ is still enjoying his baseball season.  In the pictures above he got a single, but eventually made it all the way home.  Daddy was there to see it since it was on a Saturday, and Audrey enjoyed watching L

Hornets Game and the Roome Reunion ~ March 2016

We love to visit Daddy at work.  While there we often go up to the 10th floor observatory and see the city lights. Our stake had a Luau and President Hall roasted a huge pig for us.  The kids love to dress up for any occasion and are pretty experienced in posing for pictures... Our martial arts studio had their annual Easter Egg hunt.  We have fun at all their holiday parties. The kids and I enjoyed watching the St. Patrick's Day parade. We kept thinking about Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen and how much they'd love to be at this parade too since they served a mission in Ireland. Little Miss Audrey and I loved watching the Little Mermaid ballet.  She is getting old enough to appreciate these activities and I'm so happy since I've been looking  forward to taking her for a long time.
